Nancha lightweight
Most freights off the branch from Yichun had at least one, usually two, and often three QJ 2-10-2s to get them over the short grade into Nancha.
On this particular occasion only a single JS was required which in fact made a nice change from the normal power on 29 March 1988.
JS5417 was one of a handful at Nancha that was fitted with high smoke deflectors and had no chimney cowling. The buffer beam and front steps had also been modified making the resultant engine look slightly different to a standard JS.
