Braille embosser

Boston, Massachusetts, USA - September 29, 2010 - Created by Northeastern University engineering students, the Braille embosser uses an inkjet printer and a pin pack to print Braille letters one at a time. Compared to traditional $2,000 printers, this prototype can be manufactured for $200, sacrificing print speed for affordability. The team of students was recently awarded $10,000 from the National Braille Press. Pictured are engineering student Jeff Witkowski (right) and professor Greg Kowalski (left).
