Ballynoe Stone Circle
Ballynoe Stone Circle.
An early Neolithic stone circle approx 35m in diameter made up of approx 50 stones, some up to 1.8m tall. The circle surrounds a long low mound. Three pairs of stones are outside the circle. One pair is aligned on the setting sun midway between mid-winter and mid-summer (around 21st March). The setting sun on the winter solstice seems to slide down between the Mourne mountains in the distance.
