6749, Featherstone
6749 dashes through Featherstone, with the steam heat clearly on as it works 1Z09 Hull-Blackburn "Footex" on Saturday 12th December 1970.
6749 was for a time allocated to Stratford Depot,where it would remain when it transferred to March depot in 1981 as 37049. It was only a loan move however as it quickly returned to Stratford in May 1981. In 1985 it moved north,to Eastfield before quickly moving to Motherwell as the 37/4s began to arrive on the WHL. It was renumbered 37322 in 1986 and remained an ML loco until it moved to Cardiff Canton in 1991. It then transferred to Immingham in July of that year. It was renumbered 37343 in 1994 but didn't last long and was withdrawn in 1995. 37343 was scrapped in 2003.
