Tungsten Bulb RIP
Alternative title "The Death of Creativity" or "Acquisitions: Killing Creativity"
With the ever green conscious society we live in forever looking to reduce our power consumption the halogen bulb will soon be part of our history. Buying this Tungsten proved that most stores no longer stock the traditional halogen bulb.
I thought the idea of the hangman's noose and the "mysteriously" lit light-bulb would make a good image for a still life study.
Thanks to Brian Chappell for assisting me in getting the dimmer switch working so I could take the shot with the element just glowing. The red colour comes from the bulb just glowing which at these low levels of voltage changes the Kelvin temperature of the light. The bulb was hanging in front of a curved black background that I had lit just the lower portion to create the fade at the bottom of the image.
I used three Vivitar 285 flashguns on this image. All three pointed at reflectors that I had placed around the bulb to create the edge effect on the glass. I used a Modahaus 600 curved table top for this shot to create the graduated background.
I have not finished my work with this image but thought I would post the intermediate shot as I was pleased with my work so far tonight.
