Golden Hour Indoors (Explore January 27th 2025)
A Harsh Critic
I had an enjoyable photo session earlier today with my youngest daughter, Rebecca.
Over the years, I've taken hundreds of photographs of her as she's grown. She has even graciously modelled for me during portrait workshops I've run. Yet, despite all the images I've captured, she has never liked a single one.
Today felt like a breakthrough. I photographed Rebecca and her partner using four Profoto lights: an octagon overhead softbox, two grided strip lights on either side, a background light, and a light golden reflector in front to soften any shadows.
At the end of the session, Rebecca looked through all the images I had using a CamRanger 2 sent to my iPad for easier viewing and said, … 'I actually really like some of these.' She went on to say that she loved the lighting and described it as 'insane.' I was astonished this had never happened before. A red-letter day indeed!!
So excitedly, I sat down to process the first image and sent the first one over to her with bated breath, awaiting approval, asking, 'Do you like this one?'
Her response? 'No, not really.' 😔
Ah well… back to the drawing board! 😊
