Footing Formwork
The cofferdam at the north end of the bridge has been sealed and the foundation piles have been cutoff to their proper elevation. The contractor has now begun to install formwork for pouring the reinforced concrete footings. Notice the front side of the footing has been formed, while the backside of the footing will be poured against the cofferdam sheeting to save time and forming costs.
The rebar for the footing has been tied in large mats up above and will be lowered into place with one of the large bridge cranes when the formwork is done. Once the footing rebar has been set, dowel bars will be placed, which will attach the footing to the abutment wall.
