Happy birthday

Now this you probably didn't expect :-)

 

I'm posting this photo for two different reasons... First, because I've been wanting to try some still lifes for a while now, just to get some completely different kind of camera practice from the long exposures. So, this is a first attempt, and after a couple of hours experimenting in a dark kitchen, with some tulips and a torch light, I certainly learned something new - that this technique will require quite a bit more practice, haha :-) But I had a lot of fun!

 

Second, because one of my favourite groups here on Flickr, Monochromatic Visions, turned one year old yesterday and challenged the members to post a photo taken on the 9th of April. I'm always up for a challenge, but didn't have time to go out with my camera in daylight, so decided it was time to dust off my macro lens instead...

 

So, happy belated birthday Monochromatic Visions, and bravo to the five fabulous photographers who run the group! Keep up the good work!
