Holy Family 5.5.14: A Reflection on Illumination
5.7.14: So I took a look at this album in toto today, and compared it to the single shot I took a little while back of the whole building. The time of day was slightly different for each, and there was something else. When I took the shot from further away, the light patterns formed from the reflection of the late afternoon sun was much more apparent than from up close, and there was an air of mystery about the place. However, the cross was somewhat lost, and its prominence diminished. Up closer and with a fixed macro lens, the cross becomes the focal point. The illumination is there, but its importance has been diminished. I don't know which I would prefer. Both have their attraction, and it would be hard for me to choose. If I had to, I would probably go for the full view. But then again ...
5.5.14: I was told by someone that at a certain point in the day, the sun reflected off this church in a certain way. I went a couple of months ago to check it out. I took a shot of the whole building with my zoom lens and did capture a most magnificent "lighting design" all over the church. On this day, I decided to take some shots with my (fixed) macro lens, and compare. The lens limited me a bit, but I like the results. There was another things about using the zoom and capturing the whole building. The cross became a less significant part of the picture and was somewhat lost in the capture. With the macro it was enhanced, and became the focal point.
