A Trip to Zuccotti Park 10.16.11
There's a little story behind this photo. See how that girl is waving in my direction? She didn't seem to want any journalists or anyone else with a camera to come near her and the rest of her group. I found that very strange, considering that everyone was so camera-happy there. I tuned her out, took pictures, and moved on. Later, while I was walking around taking photos, a young man came up to me and asked if anyone had tried to "prevent" me from taking pictures. if so, I should tell him and he would take care of it. I told him I hadn't encountered any problems, and that if anyone had been trying to stop me, I hadn't noticed. He was glad to hear it. It ended up that he was a member of MoveOn.org. They were watching over the protests, because they had heard that there was some corruption and dissent in the ranks taking place among some of the OWS protesters. Some also had had issue with the media, and didn't want them around. But that didn't last very long. Zuccotti Park. 1 Liberty Plaza. Liberty Square. OWS. This photo is part of a photo series that tells the visual story of my trip to Zuccotti Park on this day. Each photo in the series contributes meaning and significance to the story.
