Diary of Dreams Performing @ The Spa Pavilion @ Whitby Gothic Weekend Saturday April 25, 2009
Diary of Dreams Performing @ The Spa Pavilion @ Whitby Gothic Weekend Saturday April 25, 2009. My first night was prolific. I was taking shots at stage level. I was in a real groove. It was very lucky that it worked out that way, because my knee had buckled a few days before my trip, and by Saturday, I could barely walk. I had all that equipment to carry. No one to help. And I had to walk from my hotel. Normally I wouldn't call that far away, but I was in tremendous pain. No way, no how, was I going to let that ruin my trip. Whitby is extremely steep. Lots of steps, and I must have walked all of them on Friday! Even part of Saturday to find some balm for my knee, and an ace bandage. I still have it btw. I shot practically all the performances from a sitting position on the stage! Luckily, I love to make use of the zoom in my lens and to shoot from low angles, so I adapted to the situation. In the end, the two nights balanced each other out. And as far as Diary of Dreams, I was so taken by the music, that my bad knee was a blessing in disguise. It permitted me to photograph a bit less, thereby enjoying the music guilt-free! © Maria Dorothea Campbell 2009
