Hibiscus in Bloom
Ahh yay!! As previously reported our hibiscus is back from a bout with spider mites. Line did a great job boosting the plant back into shape! The blooms are all lined up ready to pop so we though about doing a time lapsed video. It's amazing how you get to enjoy the little subtle movements of this living being. Since it's indoors there is no wind so the movement is all from her.. Even the sifting of the whole branch from left to right...
Setup info..
Setting up this shot and keeping the lighting pretty much even through out meant a few re-writes in my head breaking down all the possible failures to get it right the first try.. Wireless triggers nope not so good because what if the batts die.. Battery operated strobe.. nope total length was 18 hours couldn't risk draining the batts.. Ended up connecting an Alien bee 800 via a pc sync cord directly to the d300. Since the AB is plugged in the wall only a power outage could foil my video! :) AB Bounced in 32" umbrella, hot spot of the brolly aimed at the wall. This was taken during a winter storm and high winds hehe!! The things we'll do during cabin fevah!!! oh and the d300 has an timer built in so it was set to take a shot every 15 mins.. Next try I'll set it for 7 minutes and catch the full bloom!
Merry Christmas everyone and stay safe! :D
