These are the connections among the Twitter users who follow the user account @jowyang when queried on December 14, 2011, scaled by numbers of followers (with outliers thresholded). Connections created when users follow one another. This network is different from the network of people who mention "jowyang" (and seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/marc_smith/6526852557).

 

The user @jowyang was removed from this data set since everyone else in the network was connected to the jowyang account. Removing the account disconnects some parts of the network, highlighting the bridging role the account performs.

 

Layout created with the "Group Layout" feature of NodeXL which tiles bounded regions for each cluster. Clusters calculated by the Clauset-Newman-Moore algorithm are also encoded by color.
