Programming by pencil
In the early 70s while I was at school we had lessons in computer programming. In those days the only computer in the county (yes, really!) was at Chelmsford University, which allocated other bodies small amounts of time to use it. Programming was in Fortran using punch cards, rather than punching holes we used 4 HB pencils. These were sent off in the post and print-outs (of the results of running the programs) were sent back.
Try telling the young people of today that and they won't believe you.... ;o)
