This is one of eight photo's of mine that appears in the book 'We are Tamworth from the Lamb' (five are from 1979 & three are from 1989) it is a book written by the fans for the fans,a brief history of Tamworth Football Club.
Note the simple barrier around the pitch, behind which the 'egg' ring-road has not yet been built,it was still part of the Castle grounds & the river Anker runs right in front of the flats known locally as the 'Colditz' flats in Bolebridge Street where the Odeon cinema now is, & where the gas works are is where the Adi's shop is now !
(Enderby Town Football Club changed to Leicester United in 1983 & wound up in 1996)
