Abydos, Temple of Sety I: The famous "Abydos helicopter" Part two
First Hypostyle Hall: Next to the "helicopter" a nother palimpsest!
Anyone well versed in egyptological inscriptions would tell you lots of recarving of inscriptions went on in ancient Egypt as ruling kings sought to acquire the work of previous pharaohs, or to discredit them. But, to check about this, you must not leave Abydos, nor the temple of Sety himself, just go a few meters and look at the next architrave: OK, no helicopter, submarine or other advanced technology, but simply another palimpsest, look at my photo here on flickr fom the armchair of your home.
Doesn't still convince?
Come youself to Egypt, Abydos await you with a smile.
