Nepal earthquake - please help!
Pashupatinath Temple on the bank of Bagmati river, Kathmandu, Nepal; Photo from 1974
The temple, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is one of the most significant Hindu temples of Shiva in the world, first erected on the banks of the Bagmati River more than 1,000 years ago.. One of the most astonishing decorations of the temple is the huge golden statue of Nandi - Shiva’s bull.
As young man, I visited the temple and dare the risky adventure to shoot this photo looking down from an inner terrace of the temple ( risky, because only followers of Hinduism can enter in the main temple normally)
Pashupatinath Temple had not suffered too much damage in these shocking days, but in the cremation area onto the main path, rows of corpses covered in saffron sheets be brought and cremated on the banks of the river to travel their last journey with the waters of the sacred river Bagmati, which later meets the holy river Ganges, extra cremation pyres had been set up, but they were not enough......
This richly decorated temple with many sculptures is believed to make wishes come true. My wish today goes at the world to stand by the wonderful local residents of Nepal after the disasters of the earthquakes met the poor country in the last days with full force.
Please hold hands with them and help to ease the unimaginable hardship that hits the poor country. Your help is bitterly needful!
