Amy

The seven deadly Flickr sins!

Part of a recent shoot with model Amy Ireland. As regular readers will know, I've been absorbing a lot recently, and taking in a lot of exterior work, and letting it play around in my head. Everything from photos that play with colour of the Northern Lights, to more artistic shots of race circuits deep in the Eiffel Mountains, through to the work of some of the Flickr faves in the portraiture world.

Been revisiting some of Miss Aniela's wonderful work, and trying in my head to decipher what makes it tick. As ever been totally blown away by the work of Lou O'Bedlam and what's coming out of that hive of fun he seems to have created with Laura Taylor and Emily Van Ness. I swear blind that I could at either of those last three streams and be lost for days, but the fact they're all firing off each other seems to be producing some cool stuff. And it's with those last three geniuses (or is it genie-eye or however you wanna spell it?) that this photo was taken. Looking at their stuff, I wonder a little if I haven't been guilty lately of making my photographs too complicated, of trying to add all those tiny little touches, and stop realising, just plain old bloody gorgeous simplicity still scores big?

Back to basics portraiture then, and out with the 50mm lens.
