A confession...

The seven deadly Flickr sins!

Deep down inside me, this image creates visions of Austin Powers, mincing about on set like some big hetero Queen, shouting "Yeah Baby, yeah, work it, work it!" Clicking away on his infinitely cool old film cameras, building up into some semi-orgamsic frenzy over the shots he's taking, until he slings it over his shoulder and shouts "I'm spent!"

I took this, and I was done.

I took other photos after this, but they were like the post-coital cigarette. (Not that I smoke). I handed the photos over to Caitlin yesterday actually and she commented that she looked very serious and moody in this, which is probably not the most accurate representation of her. Truth is I can see what she sees, but I see further than that, I see some random split second caught where she just looked (if you'll pardon my French) fucking awesome, and I (for once) caught it. This photo for me captures the little moods that play across her face and flitter away again so quickly. But most of all, it just about sums up the best I've taken yet, exactly where I want my portraits to be going. Cutting deep, incisively and accurately, to the chase, and showing you the person underneath as they are.

It's very rare I ever get the shivers about a picture I have taken for longer than about three seconds. This is two and a bit weeks old as I type, and it's not fading. :-)

So about Caitlin then? Erm. She's cool, she's intriguing would be the best phrase to use. Asks of you to inquire more, and in such a very cool and elegant way, charms your bloody socks off. And yet I still don't think I know much about her at all... That's a cool place to be. Other things though, she's got more talent in her right hand than I'll have in my entire body for the rest of my life. She's a florist currently, and does things with flowers that I never thought I would see work. She has won a national competition here for her skills and will be in Calgary next year competing for the title of bestest florist person in the whole wide world. Seriously, her arrangements = jaw dropping.

(I never quite know whether to hate people with that much talent or not... ???)
