O Dear God

Please protect these creatures

Help them survive

Let them not become extinct

They used to be many

Now only a few

Closer to falling off

Disappearing from life

Millions spent worldwide

Scientists locked into

Figuring out how to

Artificially keep species alive

If in test tubes or zoos

Whilst greedy exploitation continues

Eating up their homes and food supplies

Humanities own greedy desire

Consume and amass

Immoral levels of wealth

For but a few

Create and sell trillions

Plastic trinkets

Designed to become

Obsolete before next fashion craze

More worried

What new object can be purchased?

Before your bones perish in their dust

Your wonderment and beauty ignored

Your calls heard by whom?

Songs echo through idle talking

Directed to vain imaginings and idle fancies

Consume consume

Extinction extinction

Please God help humanity to grow up

In time to stop yet another silent passing

Let greed and materialism become extinct
