Lulu Dagma Allen (nee Jarvis)
This image would have been taken a few months after Errol's birth in 1905...that would make Vera around 5/6 years of age and Irma around 2/3 years of age.
This is the earliest image I have found of Lulu Dagma Allen (nee Jarvis) sent to me by my cousin Lesley in Germany which her mother Shirley who was born 1919 still had. In 2011 Shirley was 92 years old and still a lady through and through.
This is the only image I have of Lulu's husband Thomas Armstrong Allen.
The three children in this image are; their eldest child Vera May Allen born 1901, second child Irma Beryl Allen born 1903, and their third child Errol Thomas Allen born 1905. Lulu would soon be pregnant again with their fourth; Doris Allen who was born 22 February 1907 and died 15 December 1907 in Maryborough Queensland, Australia. (These details about Doris were found by Cousin Kay Sturgeon NSW). The rest of Thomas’s family were living and working in the Maryborough Queensland gold mining regions.
I was told by Viva Rodwell who was married to a son of one of Thomas Allen's sisters that the whole Allen family left their gold mining leases in Queensland due to major flooding from 1890 -1899 (www.bom.gov.au/hydro/flood/qld/fld_history/floodsum_1890....) to try and find gold mining work around Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. All of Thomas’s family returned to Queensland to continue working their gold mining leases.
We know that Thomas did not return to Queensland with his family but met Lulu and married her in the goldfields around Kalgoorlie and stayed in Western Australia until he died from the Spanish Influences pandemic in 1919.
