Lulu had 12 children before her husband Thomas Armstrong Allen died in 1919 from the Spanish flue pandemic after attending the funeral of his youngest son Royce Trevor at Fremantle Cemetery. After Thomas Allen returned to the Goldfield's in Coolgardie Western Australia he died soon after also from the Spanish flue pandemic.
