Wandoo: Eucalyptus wandoo is the only tree that has the same common name (the local Aboriginal Nyoongar language and signifies timber) and scientific name.

This image is of young sapling trees of Wandoo...these trees in their original forest settings are becoming extremely rare...to find young ones even more rare...it is also very hard to find information on them as they have nearly disappeared so has the interest in them. I grew up living amongst these trees at the edge of a Jarrah and Marri forest and saw with my own eyes their demise...

the bark has always inspired my creative soul...the lines are formed when the outer bark layer is pushed open with the new timber growth underneath...each Eucalyptus variety has a different bark growing style...

I read that the bark and timber of the Wandoo is full of natural tannins...
