Tunnel love

This image is built from a 6 portrait photo stitch. It was taken at the wide limit of my 24-105 lens. I had a lovely 14-35mm sitting in my bag but it was raining heavy and I was late for breakfast, I also think the distortion from the wide angle would have changed the look completely. The main subject is this beautiful branch of the oak in its autumn colours hanging over the lake, but the image is really a homage to the famous little tunnel on the right and the memories it restores. The rock obstacle to the path around buttermere is Hassness Crag and its wood upon it. The other side of the wood is Dalegarth house and 30 years ago the owners then used allow camping in the grounds of the house where on a couple of occasions I took my children camping. To walk through the tunnel was the start of the days long adventure where the children would walk round the lake… on the tops. The fell framed in the arch of the tree is Red Pike where it was the last fell of a 5 fell epic of that day. My daughter the youngest at that time she was only 8 years old, hence tunnel love.
