Kallu Shap - കള്ള് ഷാപ്പ്
തിരുമുല്ലവാരം കടലോരത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള കള്ള് ഷാപ്പ്
Kallu Shap (Kallu Shop/Toddy Bar) at the Thirumullavarom beach, Kollam, Kerala. Kallu is a drink fermented from coconut palm sap, sweet to drink when fresh and a bit or too sour by evening. See menu here It's just not people who drink kallu, elephants love kallu! Kallu shap's in Kerala are (almost) always painted white, which ledt them being called the White House ;-)
There's a temple and a pond behind me; these were hit by the tsunami on Dec 26, '04 and surprisingly there was no impact on this Kallu shop or the shallow beach upfront.
Update: This Kallu shop has been closed down or dismantled and moved elsewhere sometime in 2006 or 2007. If you go there, you will not find this same structure at this location.
