Himachal - The abode of the Gods
I took this shot near Darcha(elevation 11,020 feet) on the Leh-Manali highway in June this year.I could not bring myself to post this image earlier because I had my last conversation with my Dad, who passed away on 15th June, immediately after taking this shot.We were travelling by road from Shimla to Leh and he had called up to ask after us as the journey was a tough one.It was a short conversation and the last one I had with him because mobile connectivity was very poor on this route.He died from a massive cardiac arrest the next day soon after we had reached Leh and we had to rush back to Kolkata(my hometown).I am slowly getting over my loss and I thought I would post this image today as this year is nearly ending.
This year has been an eventful one for me.I lost my beloved father,moved from Shimla to Kolkata( from over 7000 feet to nearly sea level!) and quit the Indian Civil Service after serving for 23 years.Hopefully next year will be a more peaceful one.:-)
