Chamba
Chamba is an ancient town and the capital of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh,India.It is situated on the banks of the River Ravi at a height of 3268 ft. above sea level.The area was formally ruled by the Maru dynasty from around 500 A.D.The ancient capital of Chamba was Bharmour at a distance of about 75 kms.from Chamba.In A.D 920 Raja Sahil Varman shifted the capital to Chamba at the request of his daughter Champawati.The town is named after her.From this time 67 rajas ruled over Chamba till its union with the Indian union in 1948.It was under British suzerainty from 1846 till independence.
Chamba its famous for its temples,palaces as well as its art and crafts.
Although Chamba is a little isolated and difficult to reach I think it is one of the most beautiful valleys of Himachal Pradesh and really worth a visit. Source :- Wikipedia
