Overlooking Hamburg with the splendid town hall (Rathaus) towering the city. The Rathaus is a richly decorated Neo-Renaissance building which was finished in 1896. It is Europe's highest townhall, with its tower of 112 meters (370 ft) and it dominates the city center.
On its facade it shows the two imposing lions and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire since Hamburg was under the sovereignty of the emperor.
