To the Tune of the Glockenspiel
A major attraction in Munich, its Rathaus-Glockenspiel is the most famous glockenspiel in the world. Moving clockwork figures which displays vignettes from the city's past, accompanied by the glockenspiel, attracts visitors when it chimes on scheduled hours (11am, 12pm, 5pm and 9pm) everyday.
A glockenspiel resembles a small xylophone, but is made of steel bars. It is typically played with wooden or plastic mallets, producing a high tuned sound that is bright and penetrating. Its name comes from the German language and means "to play the bells."
It was fun seeing these still images in action... somehow brought back the child in me. :D
