The Royal Family's Home

The Royal Palace of Laeken, which dates from the late 18th century formed part of the Austrian Empire, then, during the French and Dutch occupations, Laeken became the residence of Napoleon, then that of King William of the Netherlands. Since Belgium's independence in 1830, the estate has been the residence of the royal family.
