Without the sun, the strikingly vast universal body of countless stars and planets would be nothing but a dark and lifeless cosmic shell. Similarly, without the spirit soul, known in Sanskrit as the Atma, our own material body and the bodies of those we love, would and will lose all appeal. Do we find dead bodies attractive? No. But what is really the difference between a live body and a dead one? What is the attractive animating principle of a living body, that when present causes a child to grow to adolescence and adulthood, and without which the most famous and beautiful person quickly becomes repulsive even to the throngs who adored them? Perhaps surprisingly, and contrary to contemporary mythology, no modern scientist can say. At least not scientifically. Bhakti wisdom, emanating from the source of all energies, authoritatively sheds light on the age-old mystery of life. “As the sun alone illuminates all this universe, so does the non-material living entity within the body illuminate the entire body by consciousness.” Consciousness, the energy of the individual spiritual particle, indicates our non-material existence Bhakti wisdom explains, just as sunlight indicates the presence of the sun. In the morning before the sun has appeared over the horizon, although we can’t directly see the sun it’s self we can understand it’s existence through seeing its energy - sunlight. Similarly, although we can't directly see the spirit soul with our present sensory limitations, we can understand it’s existence indirectly through the presence of its energy, conscious awareness. Today consciousness, the very medium that makes any kind of knowledge possible, is the greatest head-scratcher for the ordinary researcher. Why? Because it is a non-material phenomenon. This suggests why there’s is no scientific device which can bring back consciousness, or life, in a dead body, or even directly detect its presence in a living one. But for those who want the prove it, the spiritual science of Bhakti Yoga provides both the knowledge and technology to do so.
