Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis)

Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis)

The most adaptable member of the egret family, this bird is as much at home in the heart of a city as in a expansive wetland.Although it sends friend requests to cattle of every description,it can thrive without them, feeding on waste and offal from every dirty rubbish heap, and switching over to meat whenever it comes across a butcher's shop.Hotel wastes are most welcome, especially if it is rotten and smelling to high heavens.During the mating season, they adorn themselves with yellowish orange plumes on the head and neck. They have a comical mating dance to boot.
