Ivatt class 2 at Great Western Brick Show 2025
Last weekend, I displayed models at the Great Western Brick Show (aka. Steam) in the UK. One of the models I took, was my Allelys lorry carrying an Ivatt Class 2 locomotive. I designed the locomotive such that it can run. At the museum, after hours, I was able to give it a proper shake down at a layout built by the LEGO Northern UK Railway – LNUR. This is a video of it in action courtesy of Andrew Harvey.
After a false start, with a few bits pinging off, it completed a few laps of the layout without problems. In this video, at first, it is moving quite slowly, but after it takes the turn and is overtaken, I had it speed up. It also completed a few laps with two wagons behind it and did OK. Ultimately, though, after maybe a dozen laps, something failed, causing it to derail whilst at high speed.
It was a lot of fun and I am well pleased with how well it did, given that I never build steam locomotives. Thanks to the guys from LNUR for being good sports!
