Lego Optimus Prime (set 10302) with custom Combat Deck
My Combat Deck is modelled fairly closely after the original G1 Optimus Prime toy. That toy was a licensed version of toy produced in Japan, called Diaclone Battle Convoy. Diaclone was a range of vehicles that could transform into mecha and that included small action figures. That is why the chest of the truck could be opened and why Roller, the small car housed in the Combat Deck had seats and the Combat Deck itself had a few control stations and a sort of cockpit. On the Transformers toy, none of those things made much sense, but it did have them and so does my LEGO version. On the toy, the patterns on inside of the Combat Deck were stickers. Since I didn't want to use stickers on my model, I built them using mostly plates and tiles and adding a little texture. I know it might not necessarily be pretty, but I like it. It's fun.
