Rubezh coastal defence system WIP
Since early this year I have been building models for a Cold War collaboration at BrickFair Virginia, which will take place in late July/ early August. I've mainly focussed on missile systems. This is likely the final model I'll be building for this project. It's a Soviet-built 4K51 "Rubezh" coastal defence system that served with the East-German Navy from the late seventies until German reunification. This is a mobile system (on a MAZ-543 chassis) that can launch two SSC-3 Styx anti-ship missiles, using a mast-mounted radar on the vehicle to find the targets.
Much of the vehicle is done, including the radar mast. What is left is completing the containers on the back that house the missiles and the mechanism for elevating and rotating them.
