So the dinner we had was the exact same thing they made for me the first time I ever went to Laney's for dinner, back when she and Mac were still together and only a couple of months after I quit the chorus -- on April 15, 2004.

It was slightly cooked spinach salad as a starter, and then tofu with rice, and then what was either green beans or chinese broccoli. No one actually identified it last night; I just recall that Barbara kept calling them beans. I do remember, though, having the chinese broccoli two years ago and how it actually looked like beans -- I didn't have any last night because, this time, whether beans or broccoli, I could not take how spicy they made it (clearly for Shobhit's benefit).

The photo here is of the starter, the spinach with soy sauce and sesame seeds. I had written in my entry about the other dinner that this had "honestly frightened me," which Mac mentioned last night and so he has clearly never forgotten it. I did also say that "it was seasoned nicely," and I finished the entire small plate of it -- and I did this time too. Not my favorite part of the meal (that definitely goes to the rice and tofu), but still good enough for me to eat all of it.
