the beginning

 

the unreachable

lights

in the sky

we believed

to be

mothers

and

fathers

 

goddesses

gods

 

the changing

larger face of light

we named

luna

and she

became

our nightly

moon

a trusted

companion

 

we learned

her ways

we trusted

the divine

and so

she became

and

we

we prayed

 

now

fireflying

through

darkness

we do

not recall

which way

the stars

mean

or how

the moon

might

and when

we should

 

writing

this poem

reminds

me i

once remembered

once believed

and

will

return

in sacred

incarnation

 

reminded
