Short-eared Owl

Northern Utah

When photographing wild animals, patience, perseverance and understanding behavior are most important, but luck does play a role. After a successful evening of photographing Barn Owl, it was time to head home. On the way this guy was sitting on this nice perch AND he didn't take off! Lucky indeed. What's even more lucky is that I managed to get sharp images at 1/20 of a second with a 500mm lens.
