God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
C.S. Lewis (above)
Random sadness cannot be shaken
or filled up with things that have worked
before -- food, distractions of children, hard work,
general busyness or even photography.
Random sadness, following me like a weight
on my neck and shoulders.
Sleep, my usual solace only brings bad dreams.
I cannot run from this random sadness
which will be my constant companion today.
