Supernatural Mask

Kwakwaka’wakw mask on display in The Cave of Supernatural Powers at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, Canada. Masks such as this one were used in winter ceremonies, where animals were said to take human form. These masks were shown in the First Peoples exhibit with low light conditions and an accompaniment of quiet chanting.
