Witch's Butter or Yellow Brain

This is a Tremella jelly fungus growing on the branch of an oak tree. It is a parasitic fungus that grows on other fungi. It is either Tremella mesenterica or Tremella aurantia which can't be definitely distinguished without microscopy or clear evidence of the fungus that they are parasitising. The fungus was soft to the touch but not sticky. Common names for especially T mesenterica include Witch's Butter or Yellow Brain fungus. The photo was taken at the edge of Martlesham Recreation ground on 5 Jan 2016.
