The Brecks
The Brecks consist of over 1000 sq km of sandy soil in the heart of the East of England. They are one of the driest parts of Britain and one of its most important wildlife areas. The Brecks Partnership was set up to raise money to promote it. In July 2013 this train was introduced to the public with new photographic livery advertising the Brecks Partnership. Train 170208 was built by Bombardier Transportation at Derby in 1999, sold to the Porterbrook rolling stock operating company who lease it to the Abellio Greater Anglia train operating company. I photographed the train in Ipswich station on 28 October 2015, still going strong. Which is more than can be said about the Brecks Partnership. Despite some successful projects, financial pressure on local authorities led to a withdrawal of funding and the partnership was dissolved in 2014.
