Scathophaga lutaria (male)
These have been frequent visitors to my garden this year. They were identified by Tony Irwin as Scathophaga lutaria despite not having the darkened femora associated with that species. See www.dipteristsforum.org.uk/t4237-Scathophaga-inquinata%3F.... Apparently, as with many Scathophaga, smaller specimens with colour characters poorly developed are not infrequent.
