Lilium Second 4-Nucleate 2-7 (L)
In the second 4-nucleate stage of embryo sac development in Lilium, the two nuclei at the chalazal end are triploid, the two at the micropylar end are haploid. Lilium undergoes a tetrasporic, Fritillaria sequence of divisions and fusions to ultimately produce an 8-nucleate embryo sac.
This embryo sac represents the megagametophyte in the Angiosperm life cycle.
