Javan Myna

Javan Myna has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/103871334/176499647

Javan Myna is native to the Indonesian islands of Java and Bali, and the wild population is in trouble there. The IUCN gave an estimate of fewer than 10,000 mature individuals in a 2020 assessment. Ironically, the species is doing well in some other places where it has been introduced, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan (where I saw it). Javan Myna has a bright yellow bill (as compared with the horn colour of the bill in Crested Myna ). Javan Myna also has a white panel on the wings {more easily seen in this species) and a crest (albeit smaller than that of Crested Myna). I saw this species on all four of my birding days in Taiwan.
