crimson and clover
We're human. We make mistakes and we do good things, but we're incredibly flawed creatures. We're also unbelievably blessed, in some things.
Photography helps us (helps me, at least) to escape from that human side and to become something more. With the help of a few tools, we can fly, or run with a cheetah, or illuminate a jar. But as soon as the lights are off and the photo is posted, we go back to being humans, to being the flawed creatures we were meant to be. And sometimes, being human means you hurt, and you ache, and that you spend a day knowing that the only thing you want to do is send someone a message saying you miss them. And you know you shouldn't. You know they probably don't even miss you back. But you do, and you need them to know that.
And then comes the self-control, and the ability to keep ourselves from doing things that we think will cause us pain. So we don't hit send on that message, we tuck our phones back into our pockets and we keep on walking, keep on talking to someone else or start the car to get out of that spot. We take a deep breath and try to forget everything. But we're flawed. And while most times we can forget, sometimes we just can't.
