Beauty will save the world I
Fyodor Dostoevsky's enigmatic quote came to mind as I composed this photograph. What is it that I saw here that would classify it as "beautiful"? In the end you make up your own mind, but for me the gentle range of colour in the sunset sky provides a backdrop for the line and form of the industrial landscape. It is all structured. Too often we see the chaos and not the form. But then the Platonist in me means I can't help seeing ideal form behind everything. As I've discovered, believing there is beauty and meaning in the world is a learned skill.
