Today is my mother's 89th birthday and the first for 57 years when she hasn't had her beloved husband beside her. This photo was taken a few years ago when Dad customarily brought in a breakfast tray with a hand picked rose from his garden to celebrate Mum's birthday. My mother's name is Desma Rose, so that explains the birthday rose.
