Water Rats
These small Tasmanian Water Rats (Hydromys chrysogaster) are an Australian native rodent. They were first described scientifically in 1804. Once hunted for their pelts, they started receiving protection in the 1930s and have now even been given the indigenous name of "Rakali" in order to break the stereotypical notion that all rats are somehow vermin.
