Solar Alignment

Ancient people respected the sun. In fact they worshipped it as the source of life. So in many places observatories were set up to track the movements of the sun. Stonehenge is quite possibly such a place.

This photograph wasn't planned, but as soon as I saw what was happening I set up the tripod to capture the sun in perfect alignment.

* REMEMBERING JOHN OLSEN (1928-2023)

Today we learned that Australia's greatest living artist is alive no more. John Olsen has died at the age of 95. The grand old man of Australian painting left a huge legacy, and I for one would like to pay him a tribute (painters, even abstract ones, have always influenced me more than photographers). Several years ago I posted a photograph of his 1964 painting "Me the Gardener" in the QVMAG Collection. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/49616768471/in/album-72...

He was most definitely the last of a great generation of Modernists that included Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and Margaret Olley. www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/artists/olsen-john/
